Aircraft Hangar, L-3 Communications Integrated Systems, Greenville TX.

Completed a study of structural failure investigation and analysis for the existing aircraft service hangar. This metal hangar was constructed of tapered steel column and tapered steel rafters. Structural angles sections with Z purlins support roof decking and wall panels. Many structural members of metal hanger, buckled, twisted, warped or damaged due to high wind pressure caused by stormy weather. Structel engineers inspected visible damages, determined extend of damages, prepared recommendations to bring back the metal hanger to safe working condition in a timely manner and lowest possible cost. Existing metal structure was analyzed using state of the art computer analysis software, hand calculations and other inhouse computer applications. The metal hangar was originally designed per Metal Building Manufacturer Associations (MBMA) loading requirements. In addition to MBMA code, Structel checked the structural integrity of the metal hangar under International Building Code (IBC 2000) and AISC specifications.

Frank Buck Zoo Gainesville, Texas

Structural engineer provided structural analysis, design, drawings, details, and foundation engineering. Designed reinforced concrete, masonry, structural steel and wood structures. Structural design of entrance building, retaining wall and Giraffe Barn building. Designed and detailed over 2000 ft long Elevated walkway, Cafeteria, Gazebo, Elephant / Giraffe feeding manger, shelter supports, stairs, ADA ramps and other miscellaneous structures. Coordinated the structural effort from design through drafting and construction with Client, contractors and Architect. Also responsible for solving construction problems associated with field changes.

Ammonium Nitrate Plant Relocation, Coastal Chem., Inc., Battle Mountain, NV

Structural Engineer checked structural adequacy of existing buildings under influence of wind and seismic loading for new locations, according to revised latest required Building Code. He was also responsible for design of plant equipment foundation and inspection of all shop drawings.

Hybrid Thermal Treatment System ,I.T. McGill Pollution Control Systems, Sikes Super fund Site, TX

Lead Structural Engineer provided all project structural layouts, details, plans, foundation loading and calculations. Designed all structural steel towers and access platforms. Coordinated the structural effort from design through drafting, with other department managers and Client.

Coker Closed Blowdown System Conoco, Inc., Ponca City, OK

Structural Engineer, responsible for feasibility study, engineering design, quantity and cost estimate to replace an existing bridge and pipe racks at Ponca Refinery. Provided four different options, engineering design, cost and material/quantity estimates, structural stability analysis of two steel bridges to support new loadings and pipe racks utilizing updated building codes and Conoco Standards. Also responsible for solving construction problems associated with field changes and existing foundations.

Sulfur Recovery Unit, Conoco, Inc., Ponca City, OK

Structural Design Engineer, provided engineering services for new addition and revision to existing refinery facilities at Ponca City site. This project required extensive field investigation and data collection. Design and formal calculations were submitted to modify the existing steel and concrete pipe stanchions, platform and steel bridge with drill piers, foundations and review of all shop drawings. Formal calculations were required for fireproofing and design of all steel supports, bridges, footings and other concrete work to conform the suitability per Conoco Standards.

Coker Platform Addition, Conoco, Inc., Ponca City, OK

Lead Structural Engineer was assigned to design, cost estimate and other engineering services for platform. This platform was to support Neutron Backscatter Gauge and Gangplank for both North and South Coker Drum for the existing elevator structure and other required ladders, pipe supports and platforms.

Fuel Gas Amine Treatment System, Conoco Refinery, Conoco, Inc., Ponca City, OK

Structural Engineer provided design for installation of the system. Design work included cost estimate for both material and construction including structural design of piping supports and steel bridge/road crossing at Ponca City refinery. Responsibilities included review of specifications, issuing packages, analyzing steel structural members and foundations.

Alkylation Unit Parking Lot, Sun Refining and Marketing Co., Tulsa, OK

Structural Design Engineer provided detailed engineering design for retaining wall to separate the existing dike from alkylation parking lot. Formal structural calculations and recommendations were submitted.

Flying J. Inc., North Salt Lake, UT

Structural design for unloading rack, determination of concrete paving thickness and required steel reinforcing for 3 loaded trucks trafficking in one direction, including steel framing/support and foundation for 3-bay truck unloading. Responsibilities entailed the determination of need, availability and procurement of all permanent materials required in the construction of highway.

W.P.U. Clarifier Stairwat platform and Supporting Foundation, Sun Refining and Marketing Co., Tulsa, OK

Primary Structural Engineer responsible for the design and gathering of field data to provide access platform, walkway, stair and foundation for W.P.U. Clarifier at Tulsa Refinery.

Wastewater Treatment Plant improvements, Tahlequah Public Works Authority, Tahlequah, OK

Structural Engineer designed sludge processing building, pumps and belt filter supports and drainage system for expansion of a wastewater treatment plant. We were also responsible for determining the static and dynamic effect of new loading on an existing structure. Formal calculations for design of steel and concrete and other engineering services for new expansion, installation and revisions to existing structure of a wastewater treatment plant were also provided.

Brook Hollow Creek Flood Control Project, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District, Tulsa, OK

Lead Structural Engineer provided conceptual design, cost estimate and Feature Design Memorandum for two 4-lane road, reinforced concrete bridges, control structures, weirs, retaining walls and required foundation along with formal calculations to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District. Coordinated the project through drafting and completed before the scheduled date.

Gasoline/Diesel Trunk Loading Terminal, FINA Oil & Chemical Co., Port Arthur, TX

Civil/Structural Design Engineer for Gasoline/Diesel Trunk Loading Terminal.

City of Vinita, OK

Provided hydraulic model of the water distribution system for the City of Vinita, Oklahoma. CYBERNET computer Program was used to analyze and evaluate the City’s current distribution system graphically and model reservoirs, valves, pumps, and other pressure control devices. An engineering report was prepared consisting of recommendations for potential system improvements. Fire Flow analysis impact of future demand and proposed additional water sales to the City of Welch upon existing customers.

Provided engineering and cost estimates for truck loading facilities, foundations and supports and other miscellaneous support.

Communications and Broadcast Towers

Structural Engineer responsible for design of over thousands of antenna/dish supporting systems and masts structures including Self supporting, Guyed and Monopole towers up to 2000 feet high. Designed and managed all technical activities of estimating, drafting, manufacturing, inspection and production. Furnished structural analysis and design and foundation for thousands of various projects around the world. Provided technical supports for Mechanical, electrical engineering staff, sales and field engineer’s personnel.

Provided engineering analysis and design modifications of existing masts structures requiring additional loading such as new microwave dish or antenna installations and associated coax lines, to meet the latest Electronic Industries Association and Telecommunication Industry Associations (TIA/EIA) standards. This also required analysis of reinforced concrete drilled pier foundations, mat, spread, and gravity footings. Other analysis included lock anchor supports, and special anchor shafts for masts and guyed towers.

Transmission Subsystem Structures

Provided structural analysis and designs for new and existing transmission line structures. Have designed many transmission substations, transmission pole and transmission power lines. Have provided structural analysis for modification of existing lattice transmission structures and poles for additional loads for new/ updated codes and standard requirements.

Fire Station #3, Greenville, TX

Completed a study of structural failure investigation, evaluation and recommendation to fix structural damages in slab on grade and cracks in reinforced block masonry. Engineering report was prepared consisting recommendations to fix structural cracks in slab/wall and how to eliminate/reduce damages in future. Prepared construction drawings details and submitted proposed structural improvements.
